License terms

1. Who we are

Vaultwitness is made by an independent developer ("we"). You can reach us at support@vaultwitness.com. Payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy, our reseller and merchant of record; its buyer terms apply to the purchase itself.

2. What you get

• Free plan: use Vaultwitness on up to 2 servers, for as long as you like. One Free installation per organization.
• One-time licenses (Starter, Pro, Business): use the version you bought on up to the number of servers of your plan, forever. Updates released within one year of purchase are included; after that you can renew updates.
• Subscription (Scale): use Vaultwitness on the number of servers you pay for, with all updates, while the subscription is active.
• Trial: all features for 14 days from the first agent report, once per installation.

A "server" is a machine running a Vaultwitness agent. A license is activated on one dashboard installation and can't be moved to another one without a new activation.

3. What you may not do

• Share, resell or publish your license key or activation files.
• Remove or work around the license checks of the dashboard server.
• Run several Free installations to avoid buying a license.

4. The agent's source code

The agent is open source under the Apache License 2.0, which applies to it instead of these terms. The dashboard server is not open source.

5. Refunds and cancellation

You can get a full refund within 14 days of purchase: write to support@vaultwitness.com. A subscription can be cancelled any time; it stays active until the end of the paid year and the unused part isn't refunded. After a refund the license is disabled; a server activated offline keeps its license only until its temporary activation file expires (see how activation works).

6. When a license ends

When a subscription or trial ends, or a temporary activation isn't confirmed, the dashboard moves to the Free plan. Monitoring keeps running for 2 servers and nothing is deleted; buying or confirming a license restores the rest.

7. No warranty

Vaultwitness helps you find problems with your backups, but it can't guarantee that every backup can be restored or that every problem is found. It is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. Keep testing your restores as part of your own backup plan.

8. Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost data, lost profit or indirect damages, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the license in the last 12 months.

9. Changes

We may update these terms; the version valid on the day you bought applies to that purchase.
